// MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT

Dear members, dear partners,

Through the Human Resources Working Group and the Inclusive succession planning initiative, our actions aim to support the implementation of an inclusive succession strategy in companies. In particular, we want to equip our members with the tools they need to recruit and develop best practices in managing diversity, equity and inclusion.

One thing remains clear: we still have work to do to better integrate Indigenous people into our sector. It is imperative that we acknowledge this reality and take concrete steps to address it. The first obvious point is that we need to listen and work hard to better understand Indigenous realities.

It is with this in mind that I am pleased to announce that in a few weeks time, we will be offering a brand new training course on this subject. Taught by Rola Helou and Pamela Gabriel, the Indigenous Realities course will take place on Thursday, November 9. This 8-hour course, offered at an attractive price of just $40, is aimed specifically at HR teams and company executives. It is designed to help you diversify your recruitment pools by including more Indigenous talent.

By deconstructing the myths and revisiting the historical realities of the First Peoples, this course will give you a better understanding of the political and administrative structures of the nations in Québec and help you to consider the concepts of cultural security in the context of employment.

I urge you to take part, because it’s only by working together that we can truly move our industry towards greater diversity, equity and inclusion.

MÉLANIE LUSSIER
President
AÉRO MONTRÉAL

ARTICLE |  WHERE COULD AEROSPACE AND DEFENCE COMPANIES FOCUS TO BETTER MITIGATE CYBERSECURITY THREATS?
Taking flight, staying secure

Excerpt — " What if hackers could bring down a plane? Or take control of an unmanned military drone? Or interfere with a satellite? Or access an aerospace company’s supply-chain information? These may seem like futuristic scenarios, but the reality is that some of this is already happening today.

In recent years, increasing numbers of cyber incidents have been affecting the aerospace and defence (A&D) industry. The increased adoption of cloud computing, Internet of Things (IoT) devices and systems, and artificial intelligence (AI) has led to an increased reliance on technology. This also has presented opportunities for significant disruption, through a larger attack surface and an increased potential for cyberattacks. Even more sophisticated attacks are now possible too—including social engineering and zero-day exploits, which can bypass traditional security measures. "
